Nelson Mandela on Sacrifice for the leader’s people

Nelson Mandela (b. 18 July 1918 — d. 5 Dec 2013) was former revolutionary president of South Africa. He served the country from the year 1994 – 1999. However, he was only the first black president in the history. His real name was Rolihlahla Mandela and the name Nelson given by his primary school teacher Miss Mdingane.

Wherever he went, had some compassion attachment toward the people. Because of this attitude of Mandela, for well-being of the people he often got detachments from his education. During, when he was studying at the University college of Fort Hare, Nelson expelled. However, the main reason was joining the student protest.

He never even remembered having to hesitate for working at any professional position. He worked as a security officer after his matriculation. However, he was born in a royal family. His attempt to graduate were quite frequent and finally completed his LLB from the University of South Africa and graduation in absentia, Cape Town.

“The First thing is to be honest with yourself. You can never have an impact on society. If you have not changed yourself, and one of the most important weapons in changing yourself is to recognize that peace. I mean people everywhere in the world want peace. But humility is one of the most important qualities which you must have because if you are humble, if you make people realized that you are no threat for them. Then people will embrace you, they will listen to you.”

The political career of Nelson began taking the leap from the year 1942 and Joined the African National Congress in 1944 and formed the ANC Youth League. The aim of ANCYL was to refrain youth going against the segregation in the country. It was the Youth League effects after four years the rules of the United Party came to an end and the South Africa gave the power to the African National Party.

Mandela throughout his life saw breathtaking cyclones on this head taking fleetly turns and twists.

Furthermore, in 1952 he was banned for the first time in the country. The country put the abrupt stop on his travelling, giving any speeches and association with his comrades. As well as, he was later arrested with a hundred others. However, the arrest of Nelson Mandela eventually led to divorce his first wife Evelyn Ntoko and married to Nomzamo Winifred Madikizela also called as Winnie Madikizela-mandela.

The Treason Trial were one of the longest journeys of hurdles in the life of Mandela. It had started on the 5th December 1956. However, 156 people, including Nelson’s arrest. The trial, which lasted for almost five years (The main trial lasted until when all the defendants found not guilty). And finally acquitted on 29th March 1961 when the last 28 accused left, including Mandela.

The longest troubled in his life had happened to him when he had left the country for some training purpose. As he already was banned on travelling and leaving the country without permission. Nelson had charged with inciting workers to strike as well. For this, he was punished to five years of imprisonment in 1962. However, Mandela supposed to face death pay of life imprisonment, but his awe-inspiring words made Nelson immortalized soul.

“I Am Prepared to die” is the name given to the three-hour speech given by Nelson Mandela on 20 April 1964 from the dock of the defendant at the Rivonia Trial. It starts with “It is an ideal for which I am prepared to die”.

“I have dedicated my life to this struggle of the African people. I have fought against white domination, and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons will live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal for which I hope to live for and to see realized. But, My Lord, if it needs to be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die.”
