His full name was Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam (b. October 15, 1931 – July 27, 2015). He was a well-known Missile Man of India (an ordinary boy from a middle-class family) who had occupied the biggest seat in the biggest office in the country. He was the man and also travelled through the road of failure in his life. He served as the 11th president of India during 2002 – 2007

Excellence happens not by an accident, it is a process

Kalam had also failed in his dream of becoming a pilot. His book, My Journey: Transforming Ideas into Actions, recounts his extraordinary determination in overcoming a lower-class life in Rameshwaram. His ideas and daily discussions with his friend Jallaluddin, who was 15 years Kalam’s senior, made a significant difference in his life.

“… By the time the boat met its untimely end, Ahmed Jallaluddin had become a close friend of mine, despite the difference in our ages. He was about 15 years older than I and used to call me Azad. We used to go for long walks together every evening. As we started from Mosque Street and made our way towards the sandy shores of the island, Jallaluddin and I talked mainly of spiritual matters. The atmosphere of Rameshswaram, with its flocking pilgrims, was conducive to such discussion. It was he who made me aware of a “Brave, new world” beyond our narrow confines […]

It must be present in a discussion with an experienced man to trigger our thoughts. Generations of today believe best in having friendships of equal age, but it is more important to have an experienced friend in life.

“Every child is born, with some inherited characteristics, into a specific socio-economic and emotional environment and trained in certain ways by figures of authority. I inherited honesty and self-discipline from my father; from my mother, I inherited faith in goodness and deep kindness, and so did my three brothers and sisters. But it was the time I spent with Jallaluddin and Samsuddin that perhaps contributed most to the uniqueness of my childhood and made all the difference in my later life […]

Honesty one day tears away the richness of lie, and the man’s honesty becomes rich on its own, and no other power can match it. Self-discipline and honesty are inextricably linked. And found mostly in impoverished conditions of life. Or the one who rises from zero. Honest fathers always possess self-discipline, and Kalam well said that it is a socio-economic condition. It is only poor finances and the society in which you live that teach both naturally.

Parents are always the first teachers, and they are always there for us at all times and in all difficult situations. And their manifold teachings are always long-lasting and stamp in young brains forever.

“I have throughout my life tried to emulate my father in my world of science and technology. I have endeavoured to understand the fundamental truths revealed to me by my father and feel convinced that there exists a divine power that can lift one up from confusion, misery, melancholy, and failure and guide one to one’s true place. And once an individual severs his emotional and physical bondage, he is on the road to freedom, happiness and peace of mind […]

When faced with failure, Kalam, like most people, becomes entangled in negative thoughts. When you share your failure with someone in real life, the person responds with simple thoughts. That gets you diverted away from the negativity. One of the examples is here to the world when A P J Abdul Kalam met failure, and a Swami in Rishikesh.

“Accept your destiny and go ahead with your life. You are not destined to become an Air Force pilot. What you are destined to become is not revealed now, but it is predetermined. Forget this failure, as it was essential to leading you to your destined path. Instead, look for the true meaning of your existence. Become one with yourself, my son! Surrender yourself to the wish of God,” Swami said. […]

Inspirational Voice of A P J Abdul Kalam

To serving the country he did not marry and only focused on his aim, dreams and dedicated his life for the nation. He is considered one of the true patriot of India. Wings of Fire: An Autobiography is an autobiographical novel that tells the readers a story about unlocking their inner potential.

Also, read another politician who was great in writing, Atal Bihari Vajpayee‘s poem. Through his poem, you will travel through the real face of the world.
