Who is Jasmine Sjöberg Sidibe? An All Access Interview with the Model and Humanitarian

Thanks for your time! So where does this interview find you? What’s on tap for the rest of your day?
Right now I am sitting in the sun on a balcony in Sweden, Gothenburg. Today I will go for a walk, eat some food, and work from home – it is a calm beautiful sunny day today.
Please tell us about your early life.
I was born 19th July 1991, I grew up in Sweden, Gothenburg. I always been a girl with a lot ideas and energy. I loved to learn new things, to study and to be creative in many ways. Some of my best childhood memories is from my summer holidays that I spent filming and making movies. I always been an artistic person who loves to create.
When did you first realize you wanted to pursue a career as a model?
I think I was around 14 when I decided that I wanted to give it my all. It was not as easy as I thought. The main reason I wanted to become a model was that I wanted to see the world and I have a big interest for beauty, fashion, and health.
We would like to know about your professional career, please explain us about that.

I started pursue my modeling dream when I was 14. I did my first trip outside Sweden when I was 16. Then I have been traveling and modeling for some years. It has been commercials, photoshoots, catwalk and more. I have really enjoyed the journey, but it has also been up and downs off course.
What is the qualification required for a modeling career?
When I started as a 14 year old girl the requirements were different then what it is today. Today it is, in my opinion, a better world and more open. When I started it was the media who decided over the media and they had one typical look. Today everyone can make their own media and make a career online. Therefore I think there is more different looks on the market and I think that is a very positive change. It is less pressure and a wider market.
What do you consider the important facets of the modeling industry?
It is important in many ways. A model can easily become a role model and you can spread awareness about different things that needs to be heard, you can also sell fashion and beauty products you truly belive in – to help people with their problems or to inspire people in different ways in fashion. Being a model is important.
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
If I could change anything I would like to see more models who do charity. I do belive – we can make a positive change many fields if we want to.
How is working in modeling different today than from when you started out?
The market has changed a lot. I do believe it is more easy to get in today. Also thanks to social media anyone with the drive can build their own modeling career – I think that is beautiful.
What is your greatest professional achievement?
I have shoot for many different brands during my career – I really love to do swimwear shoots because I am an ocean girl. I have done Swimwear fashion week, also shoot for swimwear brands like Andi Bagus, Scampi Swimwear, Nicinico swimwear and more.
But I have also done charity, beauty with a cause projects. I really like when I can use beauty to make this world a better place. I have joined a lot different projects. My two favorites was for WWF, done in Malaysia to save the ocean and also for UNESCO, done in India to protect cultures. But all my trips have been full with everything and I think it is the whole journey that does it. I have meet amazing people from all over the world. I have been to places I could only dream about and I am forever grateful for all this. My greatest achievement is that I have grown as a person with every trip.

Has there been one particular moment in your modeling career that you’re most proud of?
That I was brave enough to take the first step out there. It is a big world. Sometimes I have to stop and pinch myself. But in life – you have to be openminded. If you have a dream – go for it. Try your wings. Sometimes it works and sometimes not. Keep on dreaming and believing one day you are achieving. It doesn’t matter if you wanna be a model, nurse, taxi driver, pilot, engineer or whatever it could be. What you feel in your heart is right for you – follow it.
What are your career aspirations?
I always wanted to learn as much as possible about myself and the world so I can make a bigger change one day. I want to help other people. One day I aspire to write books, share stories and help others in their lifes.
What role do you think social media plays in modelling today?
Social media has a huge role today. I even think it will grow even more. I get a lot work and connections because of social media, and I think as a model you have to try and be out there. You have to show yourself to get discovered, and social media platforms are a great way for that. My Instagram is @jasminesidibe feel free to visit.
