The MET Gala 2025 takes place on the first Monday in May. This year, it was on May 5th. NYC’s MET stairs will be covered with a red carpet. This year’s theme is Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, and it will also focus on Black designers as well as menswear and suits. Vogue’s official dress code is tailored for you. The Associated Press was at the Mark Hotel.
MET Gala 2025 Highlights
It appears to be raining in New York City during this red-carpet event. It also appears to be nighttime in NYC, as I watch it on YouTube around seven o’clock in the evening, which is still light in California. I notice all kinds of styles, colors, patterns, textures, embroidery, gemmed gowns, sequined gowns, and different shapes of suits, whether short or long. A man wore a monochromatic cream suit, a fedora hat, and a sheer trench coat with a very long train.
Some suits looked more like pimp suits. Some celebrities looked cartoonish, similar to an Art Deco character. I think it looked more like an Illuminati party. Many Black celebrities were celebrating Black culture and expressing themselves via their personal fashion style and their art.
I also watched a Page Six video of the red-carpet MET Gala 2025, which displayed the same people on the red carpet. Most weren’t celebrities. There were lots of elites. Rihanna appears to be pregnant with her third child. But her suit gown has an interesting style, with a huge black hat, cropped black jacket, and pinstripe gray suit. Her hair looks dark and long.
